Dear Sirs,

This letter is in reference to a house we purchased from Summit Crest thru NorthStar Builders. Your manufacturing number is 22-01-439-08251 A/B.

And while the finishing work on the house is the responsibility of NorthStar, the quality and timeliness of this work reflects on Summit Crest. We are sure there are some contractual agreements between Summit Crest and NorthStar concerning the finishing work.

The house was set and approved by Park County October 19, 2000. There was plenty of time for the finishing work to be done properly before cold weather.
We have over 40 pictures taken December 18 that show the inside of the house was filthy. Paint is splattered on the cabinets, drywall mud caked on the floor, cracks in the walls, damaged to the light switch by the front door, trash strewn everywhere. A quick cleanup was made after we complained. Our complaint was met with the response that the sub-contractors had lied to them (NorthStar) when asked about leaving the site clean. "They lie all the time." It is a standard clause in all contracts that the party performing the work clean up when they are done. If this is not being enforced by NorthStar it indirectly reflects badly on Summit Crest.

When we complained about some of the items, such as the counter tops, ceiling fans rough-ins, etc, we were told that any errors were the fault of the manufacturer (Summit Crest) and would take time to resolve. We would like a copy of the original order on the house so we can better determine exactly what was ordered.

While Summit Crest claims they only manufacture these homes and that all else is the responsibility of the contracting builder, we feel Summit Crest does indeed have a great deal of responsibility to supervise the contracting builder. Particularly when there have been problems in the past with NorthStar and the quality of their work.
