Colorado Wild Flowers In Our Yard

May 24, 2013. Bear in mind, we live dead in the middle of Colorado at 9,300 feet elevation. This area is semi-arid. These are the first flowers to bloom this year.

A barrel cactus beginning to bloom.
This cactus is just 3" across.


A mountain Crocus.
The flower is 1½" across.
Flower stands 3" tall.


White Flower.
Name unknown.
Very close to the ground.
Adaptation is to avoid being grazed by cattle.
Flower is less than 1 inch across.


Yellow Flower.
Name unknown.
Very close to the ground.
Five-pronged leaf.
Flower is less than ½ inch across.
